The Intelligence of Water
Water “is a living entity…has consciousness…is the fluid of creation” (Zulu folk wisdom)
Water is life. Without this element, life on earth would not survive.
As human beings, we are between 45 – 75% water.
Water is the medium through which our species procreates – sperm moves to its goal within a fluid means and the growing foetus experiences its prenatal life in amniotic fluid. The postnatal infant survives on breast milk intake for the first months of life.
Water is ancient. The same water that you drink has been recycling on the planet since life first emerged from the primordial depths. So ancient memory is embodied into its structure.
Water is sentient. Research first undertaken in the 1980’s by Japanese scientist Emoto demonstrated beyond doubt that water responds to its environment. He studied frozen molecules after they had been exposed to both positive and negative thoughts and emotions. In every instance, water exposed to positive input formed beautifully shaped water molecules, while the opposite held true with ugly molecular forms following negative input.
More recent research not only confirms Emoto’s findings but goes further. New Zealander Veda Austin has been using the frozen water methodology to recognise that water mimics anything to which it is exposed. By placing a picture or object near a body of water, she demonstrates that the water will reflect the object in molecular form in the subsequent frozen molecular structure. Water essentially takes on the form to which it is exposed as well as responding to the energetic or vibrational environment of its surrounds.
We can also observe that water is pleomorphic – that is it takes what ever shape is holding it, for example, water poured into a round bottle will take on a round form, while water poured into a square bottle will take on a square form. As such it is highly adaptive and flexible.
So, water is responsive to the environment, which is one of the indicators of sentience and, holding memory and reflective capacity, can be described as having consciousness.
How then, does this extrapolate into our lives?
Water has never been treated with the reverence consciousness would demand. Over millennia it has been wilfully misused: water environments intoxicated with animal and human waste, fertilisers, and stripped bare by excessive land clearing nearby. As far back as Roman times, when aqueducts were first built to control water's flow, it has been channelled and constrained in ways that further denature and deaden it. More recently, various chemicals have been added to water supplies to keep it "pure" for human consumption, another layer of insult.
Victor Schauberger (1885–1953), an Austrian forester and naturalist, researched how water moves in nature. He found that:
Water flows naturally in a vortex, a spiralling, swirling motion
This motion aerates the water, increasing gas exchange with the atmosphere
The result: oxygen infusion, release of volatile compounds, raised pH, and improved taste
Schauberger's hypothesis: nature uses this vortex motion to reenergise and renew water. By contrast, moving water through straight pipes mimics the kind of motion nature uses to break down and decompose matter, not to revitalise it.
Circling back to the understanding that as humans we are at least 60 – 75% water and that water is responsive to its environment, including thoughts, emotions and images it is exposed to, begs the question, what happens to the water in our body when we are constantly engaging in negative thoughts and emotions and/or exposing ourselves to violent, sexually demeaning, or ugly images? It is as if we intoxicate the fluid system, creating a toxic internal environment, ripe for dis-ease. The body itself, when in motion, creates a natural vortex for fluids through the action of walking, as the spine rotates through the alternating movement of the upper and lower torso. Fluids are meant to move, to a constant rhythm that circulates fluids and prevents stagnancy and toxicity from settling in various organs and tissues. Deepak Chopra speaks of us as being ‘more like rivers’, than solid forms.
Loving and self-respecting thoughts, emotions that move rapidly and easily though our awareness, regular movement, and an intake of pure living water is a vital key to health and longevity.
The living, moving energy of water.
Water’s use in Flower Essences
Pure water, exposed to fresh flowers gathered in a pristine environment, becomes a high vibration medicine. The flower's vibrational energy imprints onto the water, creating an ordered, coherent resonance. Taken orally, this clear energy shifts the resonance of our inner fluidic environment, entraining it with the energy of the flower. In this way, flower essences bring incoherent patterns, such as stuck emotional or mental states, into alignment with a higher frequency.
Each HeartRadiance essence is created to hold a specific pattern of support, carried into the body through water. That's why we use local natural spring water, drawn from deep in the earth, double filtered, then vortexed to ensure it is "alive." The shifts these essences invite are subtle, cumulative, and deeply personal. Rather than changing who you are, they support a return to internal organisation, clarity, and connection with your own highest capacity for balance and presence.
