The journey to love
In month 4, I didn’t have a particular goal but love was the focus and my companions on the journey were Anahata Chakra Essence and Protection Spray Mist. Love can take many forms - affection, enduring love, love for family, romantic love, self love, unconditional love for all. Over the month, at some stage or another I was conscious of recognising and embracing all of these aspects of love amidst the various ups and downs of life.
The most significant part of my month was a sense of loving resolution with my Dad. He died 3.5 years ago and for so long I felt bereft, gutted, like the wind was taken out of my sails. While I had reconciled his death from a head perspective, my heart was broken. I found myself focusing on all things I didn’t say to him or do with him and how much I was missing out on not having him around. It was hard to stay present with my feelings - they still felt raw and I pushed away the thoughts and pain. Taking Anahata shifted something, and it was fast! I went from focusing on loss to focusing on being thankful for him and our time together. It doesn’t mean I don’t feel the loss or even grief but instead of avoiding the feelings, I can sit with a sense of acceptance and love. It feels like I turned loving-kindness inwards and I am healing the wound of loss at a heart level.
Looking back over the weeks of using Anahata and Protection (I extended the time beyond 4 to 6 weeks), I feel a sense of things happening in the right place at the right time. Upon returning from travel I had also decided to commit to 100 days of meditation. I chose a guided process called the 6-phase meditation, which starts with a focus on unconditional love and gratitude. I don’t specifically recall choosing this meditation practice with the intention of supporting my journey to love but it was a good match. Prior to starting each morning, I used Protection, which supports courage (of the heart) and inner strength. Some mornings I just need inner strength to get out of bed, but also part of the meditation is to bring to mind a being I love - person or pet, and I think using Protection as part of the meditation helped create the circumstances I needed for healing. Now, about 70 of 100 days into the process, what I often experience is starting the day with a smile. I can only imagine what I look like, sitting up in my pj’s with an eye mask and a goopy smile. It is a good way to start the day and now, I am ready to move to Vishuddha Chakra Essence and Clarity Spray Mist.
